Description

Our client is a global Transportation Spend Management solutions and services provider. They offer their customers a single global technology platform across all shipping modes and a leading suite of transportation spend management analytics.

They are transforming traditional freight and parcel audit to help customers better manage and control their global transportation costs and drive enterprise-wide efficiency.

In simple terms, they partner with global brands (and then also partner with the international freight carriers of said brands, across all modes of transportation) and then manage both the audit of their client’s freight documentation, and also the cost allocation for all the associated invoices.

Their Philippine operation, established in 2008, is based in Cebu, and now boasts a headcount of around 350 staff.

This is a 24/7 operation, with staff working a variety of shifts aligned to the various geographies they manage, those being LATAM, EMEA, APAC and AMR (i.e. the Americas region).

The Vice President of Operations will have responsibility for the audit operations area of the business, whilst also being the most senior member of staff in the Philippine operation. The role will report directly into the Chief Operations Officer who is based out of the US.

This is a replacement role following the company’s decision to appoint a Cebu based Vice President, the current manager is based out of the US.

Suitable candidates will have previous experience leading teams in the Philippines who provide cloud-based technology solutions and expert services to a global client/customer base.

Candidates need meet the following criteria:

·         A minimum of 15yrs experience in operations management, preferably in the software industry or a related technology field. This experience should include progressively responsible roles with demonstrated success in leading and managing operational functions

·         Previous experience in logistics and/or supply chain would be advantageous

·         A minimum of 5yrs in-country experience in a people management role (responsible for a min of 150 FTEs) for a multi-national organization based in the Philippines

·         Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, to effectively allocate resources and optimize operational efficiency while maximizing profitability

·         Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify operational challenges, develop innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives

·         A commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences through operational excellence, with a deep understanding of customer needs and market trends.

·         Demonstrated ability managing and leading teams, driving performance, consistently producing superior results, and cultivating ownership while enforcing company policies and applicable law, someone leads by example and inspires.

·         A hands on/roll the sleeves up operator, doing whatever is necessary to meet targets, with excellent attention to detail

·         Proficiency in using technology and software relevant to operations management, such as ERP systems, project management tools, and data analytics platforms would be an advantage

·         Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) in English

·         Willing to work flexible schedules to meet the global scope/demands of the role (including weekends and holidays if/when necessary).

Additional Role information:

  • Shifting schedule, Monday to Friday (flexibility will be necessary to meet the global demands of the company) (see below *)
  • Based in Cebu, Philippines
  • 4 and 1 working arrangement (see below **)
  • This is a replacement role
  • Reporting to the COO (based in the US)
  • Responsible for approx. 220 FTE’s
  • There will be a minimum of 4 interviews in the recruitment process
  • The position comes with an attractive package include a performance based incentive. Assistance with relocation will be provided for candidates based elsewhere in the Philippines.

* Given the geographical reach of both the organization and therefore the role, not to mention the fact this is a 24/7 operation, it likely goes without saying that flexibility is key. With the majority of the key holders, including the COO to whom this role reports, based in the US, working a shift that aligns to the US working day would be the most sensible approach, though working a Philippine mid shift (e.g. 2pm until midnight PST) provides a reasonable overlap between the Philippine day shift, and both the European and US day shifts. The successful candidate can discuss and ultimately agree on the most suitable regular working hours on the understanding the successful candidate will be at ease with the occasional need to adjust said schedule if/when necessary on a business needs basis.

** Whilst the working arrangement for the vast majority of staff in the Philippine operation is hybrid (4 & 1), the general expectation is for the VP of Operations to be working on site the majority of the time.
