About the Role:
We are seeking a highly strategic and operationally driven General Manager to lead and expand a maritime training and technical vocational education business under a well-established shipping organization.
The role will be responsible for overall business leadership, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, commercial growth, and the continuous development of world-class maritime training programs aligned with global industry standards.
This position requires a strong leader with deep exposure to maritime operations, seafarer development, or technical education, capable of balancing commercial objectives with training quality and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the overall business strategy for maritime training and technical education operations.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth while maintaining high training and certification standards.
- Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and program expansions aligned with industry demand.
- Lead annual business planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of training centers, simulators, and technical education programs.
- Ensure efficient delivery of training schedules, instructor deployment, and resource utilization.
- Establish operational KPIs and continuously improve service delivery and learner outcomes.
- Implement best practices in training management and operational efficiency.
- Ensure full compliance with maritime regulatory bodies and international standards (e.g., STCW, MARINA, IMO requirements).
- Maintain accreditation and certifications of training programs and facilities.
- Lead audits, inspections, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Strengthen relationships with shipping principals, crewing companies, and maritime stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal shipping and fleet management teams to align training with operational requirements.
- Represent the organization in industry forums and regulatory engagements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop training managers, instructors, and administrative teams.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Drive talent development and succession planning within the organization.
- Manage P&L accountability, cost controls, and financial performance of the business unit.
- Optimize resource allocation while ensuring investments in technology and training innovation
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Business Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 10–15 years of leadership experience within maritime, shipping, training, or technical education environments.
- Strong understanding of maritime training standards, certification frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience managing operations with full P&L responsibility.
- Demonstrated success in business growth, operational transformation, or training program development.
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
