Job Title: Head of Airfreight Job Summary: The Head of Airfreight is responsible for leading and managing airfreight operations at the country level. This role develops and implements operational strategies aligned with corporate and global objectives to ensure efficient, reliable, and profitable airfreight services. The position oversees end-to-end operations, capacity management, carrier relationships, pricing strategies, and overall operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute country-level airfreight strategies aligned with business and global objectives

• Lead planning, budgeting, and implementation of operational plans to drive profitability and growth

• Oversee end-to-end airfreight operations including capacity management, procurement, and network optimization

• Manage carrier partnerships, preferred carrier programs, and incentive agreements

• Ensure compliance with global standards, policies, and operational procedures

• Identify market opportunities through market research and competitor analysis

• Develop pricing strategies and support sales in bids, RFQs, and customer presentations

• Drive continuous improvement using performance monitoring tools and benchmarking best practices

• Lead and develop multiple teams, ensuring strong performance and talent growth

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leaders, customers,

and third-party partners

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Airfreight Operations

• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

• Proven experience in logistics, carrier management, and import/export operations

• Strong business acumen with a results-driven mindset

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Geoff Curran has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia and over twenty years experience as a specialist recruitment practitioner. During that time he has worked with organizations to secure talent at the middle and senior levels.

Geoff began his recruitment career in Perth in the early 1980s. After several years with a national management consulting firm, he joined Arthur Andersen & Co. to establish its executive recruitment division.

In 1989, Geoff moved to Sydney and at Morgan and Banks specialized in recruiting for accounting and finance. He then spent two years in London, further developing his skills in this field. He returned to Sydney in 1994 and joined Margot Davis and Company, a recruitment consultancy which specialized in marketing, advertising, and marketing communications. He subsequently became a shareholder and a director in said business.

Geoff established Curran + Associates in 1998.
