Job Description

We’re looking for a Head of Audit Services to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and leading a team to deliver high-quality, professional, cost-effective, value-added, and risk-based audit services across assigned areas, segments, and countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead a highly engaged audit team in executing various types of audits and reviews (including SOX) across assigned areas, segments, and countries, ensuring alignment with audit methodology, departmental standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Assess the adequacy of risk management and internal controls, present findings to business unit management, and recommend practical, value-adding enhancements to strengthen controls and operational efficiency

  • Manage and maintain strong working relationships with leaders across assigned areas, segments, and countries

  • Champion the adoption and use of data analytics and digital tools to improve audit process efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications

  • Extensive Experience: Minimum of 14 years of cumulative experience in life insurance, pension, or asset management, with strong knowledge of audit methodologies, control frameworks, and risk management

  • Leadership: At least 7 years in a directorship or equivalent role with regional or global oversight

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with proven ability to manage challenges, resolve conflicts, and influence stakeholders

  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and operate effectively with staff at all levels

  • Innovative Mindset: Proactive in challenging the status quo and driving continuous improvement

Nice to Have

  • Professional designations such as CA, CMA, CGA, CPA, CIA, or CISA

  • Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx)

Geoff Curran has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia and over twenty years experience as a specialist recruitment practitioner. During that time he has worked with organizations to secure talent at the middle and senior levels.

Geoff began his recruitment career in Perth in the early 1980s. After several years with a national management consulting firm, he joined Arthur Andersen & Co. to establish its executive recruitment division.

In 1989, Geoff moved to Sydney and at Morgan and Banks specialized in recruiting for accounting and finance. He then spent two years in London, further developing his skills in this field. He returned to Sydney in 1994 and joined Margot Davis and Company, a recruitment consultancy which specialized in marketing, advertising, and marketing communications. He subsequently became a shareholder and a director in said business.

Geoff established Curran + Associates in 1998. His approach to executive recruitment and search is founded on several basic principles: knowledge gained through specialization, being relevant to both clients and candidates, and delivering outcomes quickly and efficiently.
