About the Role:
The Head of Ship Management is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and performance of the ship management business, ensuring operational excellence, commercial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship across all managed vessels.
The role drives the delivery of safe, efficient, and customer-centric ship management solutions while achieving organizational goals in profitability, governance, innovation, and people development. This position serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, shaping long-term growth and strengthening market competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership to achieve organizational vision, growth objectives, and operational targets.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term business strategies aligned with market opportunities and customer needs.
- Lead annual business planning, including the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and performance KPIs.
- Drive service differentiation, innovation, and competitive positioning within the ship management sector.
- Oversee end-to-end ship management operations ensuring safety, efficiency, and service reliability.
- Ensure managed vessels consistently meet or exceed contractual KPIs, SLAs, and quality standards.
- Strengthen operational processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead crisis response, risk mitigation, and operational issue resolution.
- Hold full accountability for P&L performance, revenue growth, cost optimization, and financial sustainability.
- Ensure effective cash management, billing, collections, reporting, and compliance with financial obligations.
- Drive resource optimization and infrastructure investments aligned with business strategy.
- Foster a strong customer-centric culture focused on delivering high-value ship management solutions.
- Monitor industry trends and develop services, pricing models, and solutions aligned with market demand.
- Strengthen relationships with ship owners, principals, and key stakeholders.
- Build and lead high-performing land-based and sea-based teams.
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and workforce capability enhancement.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and a culture of safety and excellence.
- Ensure full compliance with international maritime regulations, statutory requirements, and industry standards.
- Lead governance, audit compliance, and risk management frameworks across operations.
- Champion environmental protection and sustainability initiatives.
- Drive process improvements, digitalization initiatives, and operational innovation.
- Promote adoption of new technologies and data-driven decision-making.
- Represent the organization with regulators, industry associations, and external stakeholders.
- Strengthen corporate reputation through strategic partnerships and public engagement.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, or related discipline.
- MBA or postgraduate degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 10–15 years of senior leadership experience in ship management or maritime operations.
- Prior experience as a senior technical leader, fleet manager, or Chief Engineer strongly preferred.
- Proven track record in technical ship management, operational leadership, and business performance management.
