Job Overview:
The Senior Finance Manager will play a critical role in the management team, overseeing financial operations and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. This newly created role, driven by organizational expansion and succession planning, is designed to strengthen governance and enhance financial integrity. The successful candidate will identify and implement key changes to compliance and finance processes to support the organization’s growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Oversee the preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial statements.
    • Manage the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
    • Monitor cash flow and ensure the organization’s financial stability.
    • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and financial efficiency.
  2. Compliance & Governance:
    • Ensure adherence to all statutory requirements, including taxation, labor laws, and other legal regulations.
    • Stay updated on changes in regulatory frameworks and implement necessary adjustments to organizational policies.
    • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
    • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  3. Process Improvement:
    • Identify key changes to improve finance and compliance processes.
    • Implement streamlined workflows to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Introduce tools and technologies to modernize financial and compliance functions.
  4. Team Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Lead and mentor a team of finance and compliance professionals.
    • Collaborate with other departments to align financial and compliance goals with organizational objectives.
    • Present insights and recommendations to the management team to support decision-making.

Geoff Curran has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia and over twenty years experience as a specialist recruitment practitioner. During that time he has worked with organizations to secure talent at the middle and senior levels.

Geoff began his recruitment career in Perth in the early 1980s. After several years with a national management consulting firm, he joined Arthur Andersen & Co. to establish its executive recruitment division.

In 1989, Geoff moved to Sydney and at Morgan and Banks specialized in recruiting for accounting and finance. He then spent two years in London, further developing his skills in this field. He returned to Sydney in 1994 and joined Margot Davis and Company, a recruitment consultancy which specialized in marketing, advertising, and marketing communications. He subsequently became a shareholder and a director in said business.

Geoff established Curran + Associates in 1998. His approach to executive recruitment and search is founded on several basic principles: knowledge gained through specialization, being relevant to both clients and candidates, and delivering outcomes quickly and efficiently.
